This Sweet Union - Painting and Poem
This week saw the completion of the painting, "This Sweet Union" (11" by 14"). This piece has been underway since last fall. The hands have 3 layers of paint on them, creating a thicker texture - almost like a sculpture. I had a general idea about this painting, but the grey scale surprised me. Yet, as soon as I started covering the original colors, I knew it was the right choice and that the colors were a great foundation (you can see how the painting progressed below). The painting is based on the poem of the same name, about friendship and how relationships evolve over time. We have since parted ways - almost like predicted in the poem. But the sweetness of that journey will always remain.
The original painting is currently available for sale.
This Sweet Union
This sweet Union
Complex in its many territories
No need to pretend
It's easy all the time
The history of lovers
Always looming with
Its memories of times
Made easier
By the forgetful romantic mind
Someday it will expire either way
And others will take our places
Yet, in this moment
We choose in to
What we don't know
Save It feels good
To lay in the grass
Resting
Partners in being
Call it friendship
Or whatever you want
I have no idea
Except "familiar" beyond this life

Rigtig fint maleri og digt. Sendte du nogensinde dine digte frem til avisen?
